BASSSSS (tips)
MAKING BASS
generate a sine wave in soundforge. EQ that sucker, >dialign it in at around 50hz or so. Distort that sucker. Play with it >again. >EQ, filter, ad effects..se what you can come up with. Just remember that >low >bass is 50hz or below. Anything that low will shake the bassbins. I still >use >all my basslines I made in soundforge. I made one that desends in pitch and >is filtered via envelope at the begening, then i looped it to give it a >serious "the nine" effect. If you play around with that I gurantee you'll >get >some low hummin, bass shakin basslines...its all abotu filters and EQ's. >Some >presets on keyboards can sound dope when you" pitch it down, distort it, EQ >it add an envelope filter. > > You can smaple basses to. take an 808 bassdrum, distort it, TIMESTRETCH >the >hell out of it. EQ(dialing in at low frequncies), filter...you just made a >nice tearin "dillinjah/jump up" style bass. I havetn used soundforge in a >while, but im sure someone on here could tell how to generate a bassline at >a >certain frequency. > > remember when EQing and filtering basslines, You dont need any high or >mid >frequencies. So just cut them out from 500hz on up.
I found the best thing to do is layer sounds... Take one of your 'tracey' >kind of basses and add distortion to it, play round with filters and get it >sounding right (it doesn't have to have bottom end though). >Now layer that with a standard sub bass sample .. viola!! Bass!
